Arizona Student Connections Pilot – SMS Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: August 11, 2026
These SMS Terms & Conditions apply to text messages sent as part of the Arizona Student Connections Pilot.
Program Description
The Arizona Student Connections Pilot is a school-based initiative designed to strengthen student connection and engagement and improve access to school and community resources so students feel better supported and more prepared for learning.
Participating students are paired with a Connections Navigator, a designated school staff member who serves as a proactive point of contact through regular SMS check-ins. The Connections Navigator helps identify barriers to student engagement and success, helps students determine what support they may need, makes appropriate school or community referrals, and follows up to help ensure students connect with supports they need.
Participation and Consent
Participation in the Arizona Student Connections Pilot is voluntary and requires parent or guardian consent. Providing consent to participate in the pilot or receive SMS messages is not a condition of enrollment at Arizona Virtual Schools.
SMS Messages
Students participating in SMS messaging will receive regular text messages from their Connections Navigator, including regular check-ins, responses to student messages, follow-up after check-ins or referrals, reminders, and other communications related to the Arizona Student Connections Pilot.
Message frequency: Typically up to five (5) scheduled check-in messages per week. Additional messages may be exchanged based on student responses, follow-up needs, or requests for assistance.
Messages are monitored and responded to during regular school business hours only and are not monitored on weekends or outside of business hours.
Message and data rates may apply.
To stop receiving SMS messages, reply STOP at any time. After replying STOP, you may receive a confirmation message and will no longer receive program text messages unless consent is provided again.
For assistance with SMS messaging, reply HELP or contact l.rubin@stellarvirtual.org
Important Limitations
The Connections Navigator is not a school counselor, therapist, or clinician and does not diagnose, treat, or recommend treatment for mental or behavioral health conditions. When a student's needs fall outside the Navigator's role, the Navigator may refer the student to the appropriate school or community resource.
The SMS program is intended for routine student check-ins, navigation, and follow-up. It is not an emergency service and is not continuously monitored.
Privacy
Information collected through the Arizona Student Connections Pilot will be handled in accordance with applicable student privacy requirements and school policies. Please review the Privacy Policy for additional information.
Students should avoid sending highly sensitive personal information through SMS text messaging.
Carrier Information
Message delivery is subject to participating wireless carriers and network availability. Wireless carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.
